The episodes of the Bleach anime television series are based on Tite Kubo's original manga series of the same name. It is directed by Noriyuki Abe, produced by TV Tokyo, Dentsu and Pierrot, and was broadcast in Japan from October 5, 2004, to March 27, 2012.[1] The series follows the adventures of high school student Ichigo Kurosaki who can see spirits and becomes a Soul Reaper, after assuming the duties of Soul Reaper Rukia Kuchiki.
Forty-five pieces of theme music are used for the episodes: Fifteen opening themes and thirty closing themes. Several CDs that contain the theme music and other tracks have been released by Studio Pierrot.[4] As of January 23, 2013, all 366 episodes have been released by Aniplex in Japan in 88 DVD compilations.[5] 32 DVD compilations of the English adaptation of the series have been released by Viz Media,[6][7] and twenty six season boxsets have been released that contain all the seasons of the anime.[8][9]
An anime adaptation, produced by Studio Pierrot and TV Tokyo, was broadcast by TV Tokyo. The arc was adapted into episodes from several different seasons intersped with filler episodes and arcs;[7][8] season 6's episode 110, aired on January 10, 2007,[9] starts the story concluded in season 14's episode 310, broadcast on February 22, 2011.[10]
Bleach has a reported total of 163 filler episodes out of the 366 episodes, which is a very high 45% of filler material (nearly half the show!). Most of these episodes belong to the five filler arcs, but there are also individual episodes or groups of episodes that are filler content.
The Western pop culture-inspired JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is one of the best-selling ongoing manga, having sold over 100 million volumes. Divided into separate parts that each focus on a different character, the manga tells the complicated and fantastical history of the Joestar family and their run-ins with the villainous Dio Brando. The first 48 episodes of the anime, which adapt parts 1-3 of the manga, are now available on Funimation in the United States and Canada.
Renowned as one of The Big Three manga during its original run, Bleach's story of teenage Soul Reaper Ichigo's fight against Hollows and spirits is one of the most well-known, albeit controversial, narratives in anime. The manga sold over 120 million volumes, and its anime ran for 366 episodes. Of those 366, episodes 1-109 are now available on Funimation in the United States, and episodes 1-209 are available for Canadian viewers. Both long-term Bleach fans and those unfamiliar with the series can experience the beginnings of one of anime's biggest phenomena.
Another member of The Big Three, Naruto's manga ran sold over 250 million volumes in its impressive fifteen year run. The manga's story of underdog ninja Naruto Uzumaki's struggle to become the Hokage, his village's leader, inspired a 720-episode anime adaptation, as well as a number of both canon and filler films. While 170 episodes of the Naruto anime were already on Funimation, this new deal with VIZ Media will add films Naruto Shippuden the Movie: The Will of Fire, Naruto Shippuden the Movie: The Lost Tower, Naruto Shippuden the Movie: Blood Prison, Naruto the Movie: Road to Ninja and The Last: Naruto the Movie to the streaming service's catalog. Each of these films will be available to both American and Canadian viewers. 59ce067264
